it build and grow into the Full Moon. Get to know the dark side of your children. Listen to their fears, their longings, their heartbreaks, their anger. Find ways to help your child to gain control over their "dark side" or teach them to "give away" those concerns that they have no control over.
A New Moon ritual you can do with your kids. You will need, a little garden shovel, a cup of water, a candle.
Take time to listen to things that are worrying your child, causing conflict or anxiety.
List them on paper or some other biodegradable writing surface.
At the new moon, take them outside and spend time in the night sky. Talk to them about the moon cycle. Talk to them about their "inner" self vs. the "outer" self that others perceive.
Talk to them about what their worries are, find solutions for those that can be resolved. Everything left that is not of anyone's control, tear out those words from the paper.
Dig a small hole in the dirt, place the pieces of paper in the hole and help your child say these things:
"These are not my problems. I give these things that don't belong to me to the Mother Earth. She will take them into herself and she will change them as she sees fit. I pour a little water on these things so that the water may carry these problems where they need to go."
Cover the hole with the dirt and pack it very well. Use the candle to drip a bit of wax over the hole and help the child say, "I give these problems to Mother Earth and I seal them away from me."
Have fun!
